Runner with “big heart” doing 44-mile, heart-shaped run Friday (indystar)
Edward M. Conning doesn’t appear to do anything half-hearted. This 38-year-old Indianapolis man will embark Friday in Indianapolis on a running and charitable adventure with an ultimate goal of doing five major world marathons in 2012 — Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York — plus the Indianapolis OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon and the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. That’s an ambitious schedule for anyone, particularly someone like Conning who isn’t an elite runner or long-time runner. On Friday, Conning is starting with his own “I Heart Indy” ultra-marathon run timed during the Super Bowl activities. He’s going to run this 44-mile route in the shape of a heart starting at 8 a.m. on Monument Circle and ending there Conning is trying to highlight the fact that Friday is National Wear Red Day, kicking off American Heart Month.
